I'm trying to figure out which TKO 600 5 speed to order for my '72.
The problem is which one to order, since they have different shifter locations on the tail housing. I want to use the factory console/armrest & NOT cut up the floor.
Much obliged,
Mustang Gregg

I found a little bit of information here...

It says that you will probably have to order a "early" Ford TKO transmission and it should be a direct bolt-in to any early ford. Also, I think you will have to get the 31 spline input shaft.
Here is another link. This is for installing in a '70 Mustang (which should be very closem to the same, even though they changed the body style).

From the way I read it, if you get the "early" Ford TKO-600, it should be a direct bolt in if you car is already a manual. You shouldn't have to do any cutting.
However, it doesn't state anything about motor sizes though. But, if the 460 block has a standard Ford V8 bellhousing, I don't see why it wouldn't directly bolt up. But, I don't really know anything about the 460 what so ever.
I hope that helps some. |
