Mustang Gregg here.

Past cars/projects:
1975 to 1978: '71 Torino 429TJ
1979 to 1983: ' 67 Mustang 289HP
1984 to 2004: Raising family---NO FUN MONEY
2005 to now: '72 Mach1 460CJ

This forum looks very interesting. And I always need some hints on "what fits what" & sources for parts. Maybe I can help some other folks too.

Yup, them first 2 cars were good ones. Both were sold to have "family" funds. Now the kids are gone I the wife says "Get your Mustang running." I ain't gonna argue with that!

The '71 Torino was a plain-Jane lime gold hardtop that I put a 429TJ outta a '69 Thunberbird into. With the factory gears, I would run 140+. It was trouble for a 20 year old!!! Scary but fun!!

The '67 Mustang GT was a car that had a real 427 in it (when I bought it) that had a cracked cylinder. So I sold off the engine WAY too cheap & put in a 289 HP & installed a 4-2 48IDA Weber mainfold that said "COBRA". The rest of the big block drivetrain (CR 4 speed & Detroit Locker) stayed in the car. I drove it awhile. Soon a guy wanted the car for the body. So I put the engine w/new C4 in a mini-rod TPA tractor.

Then I quit fun cars for 20 years!

But now I have a '72 Mach1 that I bought for $550 & drove it home. I'm putting a 460 in it with '69 or '70 CJ heads. The pistons are 10:1 forged & camshaft has a nice overlap. So it will be needing some high-test gas for sure. But I work at an airport---So 100LL is a possiblility. I need to get it roadworthy for an AZ wedding in early April!

Dang, you sold the 427 in the '67? I bet you wish you hadn't have done that pretty often.

Man, I can't believe you bought a '72 Mach 1 that drove for only $550. Sounds like a great project though.

Well, I live in S/E NE. So I reckon the market is kinda region-depressed a bit when I bought the '72. And it had a fair amount of rust. It was a Cleveland/C6 car.
But even in the poor shape it was---It beat every Fox 5.0 Mustang that stoplighted me.
It was real hard on tires.

I have some old snapshots of the '71Torino & maybe 1 of the '67 GT.
The '72 Mustang is not very photogenic at present.
The roof & doors are shitbrickle brown.
Quarters are green primer.
Hood is primer gray.
1 fender is white.
1 fender is black.
The underbody is aircraft epoxy yellow.

When finished, it will be DuPont #300-GS. Which is real close in color to the Interstate Battery green with black stripes & accent areas.
